TRENDING 2020 EXTERIOR PAINT COLORS

INCREASE YOUR HOME’S VALUE THROUGH CURB APPEAL

We always say that when it comes to selling a home, the first impression is the only impression. This starts from the moment a potential buyer looks at your property online. The first photo in the online presentation is typically the exterior shot. If that photo does not catch the buyer’s eye, you may lose the sale right there when potential buyers keep on scrolling to the next property.

Updating the exterior paint on your home will create a fresh look, increase the value of your property and make a big impact on potential buyers.

Choosing a paint color isn’t easy, especially one that will have such an influence on the overall look of your home. Keep reading for a roundup of the trending exterior paint colors in 2020 from Consumer Reports. These colors are inspirational and we always recommend consulting with a professional.

OFF WHITE WITH BLACK TRIM

Painting your home a neutral, off-white color with black trim will provide a clean and modern look. This combination is sophisticated and feels very 2020. A suggested color combination is Behr Smoky White BWC-13 and Behr Black.

GRAYS

Cool gray, neutral gray and deep charcoal have been very popular to create a moody and comforting exterior. For cool gray try Clark+Kensington Stone Fireplace N-C12 or Benjamin Moore Gray Owl OC-52. For neutral gray Storm AF-700 by Benjamin Moore is a great option. Use deep charcoals like Benjamin Moore Witching Hour 2120-30 and Shermin-Williams Cyberspace SW 7076. Use these colors in combination, or paint your entire exterior, siding and trim, in one deep charcoal color for a dramatic and cohesive look.

GOLDEN NEUTRAL

Golden neutrals like caramel beige provide a welcoming and warm feeling to your home and are a great backdrop to the natural shades of landscaping. Try Valspar Sandy Cove 3005-10A or Glidden Chicory PPG1095-6. These warm tones work perfectly with a pop of color for the front door, like Valspar Ocean Sigh 5002-10A.

If you’re not ready to commit to an entire exterior paint job, consider painting trim and features. We recommended to a seller that they paint the brick and front door on their Harrison, New York home. Check out the before and after photos below… a simple coat of paint completely updated this home and created a fresh and modern look.

But before you start using any color, have a plan and the vision and always test paint first to make sure that the color looks they way you envision it.
