Dining Room Or Family Room?

I have this lovely house…. in a prime location…I am living in it for 40 years…I received so many compliments and yet I was not able to sell my house 2 years ago when I had it on the market. I had been waiting to sell in order to get one of the homes in greenville sc. Now I need to sell, what should I do?

This home seller called us recently and we provided a consultation and the home seller implemented most of what we recommended. During the consultation we discovered this beautiful room right next to the kitchen, which the home seller had set up as a casual dining room – there was a formal dining room to the other side of the kitchen.

The neighborhood is a family friendly neighborhood with young families with kids on a quiet street in Norwalk. The buyers are most likely to be a young couple with family plans or a family with young kids. Thus we suggested to re-purpose the casual dining room as a family room, so buyers could envision themselves cooking in the kitchen while the kids are playing right next to them in the family room. The home seller at first was a little bit confused about this suggested set up, but after explaining why, she followed our advise.

The house came on the market and sold within 2 days. I was lucky to meet the home buyers and asked them what made them buy the house. Their immediate answer was, the family room right next to the kitchen. This was the perfect floor plan for them and their 2 little kids. If the house were not set up like this, it would probably still be on the market.

This example shows again how important it is to call a professional stager for a consultation before putting your house on the market. Once you have lived in a house for a while it is hard to see what it needs in order to sell. Professional home stagers like us know what buyers are looking for and how to draw them into the house.
